Story Squad delivers curriculum-aligned creative writing and storytelling incursions for primary schools (K–6). Our programs are designed to develop confident communicators, creative thinkers and engaged learners by explicitly teaching storytelling, creative writing and oral language skills alongside broader capabilities such as creative problem solving, empathy, resilience and self-expression. Workshops support both academic outcomes and student wellbeing through imaginative, student-centred learning. We don’t just teach writing – we nurture future-ready thinkers and storytellers.
Absolutely. All Story Squad incursions are curriculum-aligned and developed in collaboration with experienced educators and creative experts. Our workshops support key English outcomes, including listening, speaking, responding to texts, imaginative thinking, and narrative structure. They also support the development of key General Capabilities and student wellbeing across primary years. Whether it’s preparing Stage 2 students for NAPLAN or helping Stage 3 students transition to high school, our workshops are designed to complement what they are learning in the classroom. Curriculum links and outcomes are available upon request.
We offer immersive incursions for years K–6. Each program is carefully designed to suit the developmental needs, learning goals and energy levels of the stage, from playful, movement-rich storytelling for our youngest learners to leadership, wellbeing and public speaking workshops for Years 5–6.
Our sessions typically range from 60–90 minutes, but we can also facilitate half-day or full-day experiences depending on your school’s needs. For optimal engagement and interactivity, workshops are delivered to individual. We’re flexible and happy to adapt sessions or create bespoke programs to suit your timetable, focus areas or special events.
Yes! Whilst we have a robust set of core workshops, we love creating bespoke experiences. We can tailor our sessions to suit specific learning goals and areas of focus, school themes, and events like Book Week. We also offer Enrichment Days, and themed full or half-day immersions including Spy School, Alien Invasion Squad, Magic & Mayhem, and Superhero School, to immerse kids fully in their imaginations.
Yes. We believe the journey shouldn’t end when the workshop does. That’s why all of our incursions include engaging classroom-ready follow-up activities so educators can extend the learning, revisit key concepts, and embed the skills developed during the session into future writing tasks, ensuring the incursion has lasting impact beyond the day itself.
Story Squad workshops are delivered by a unique combination of creative experts and experienced educators, creating sessions that inspire imagination while supporting learning, confidence and student wellbeing. All presenters are passionate, engaging and skilled in working with primary school students and hold a current WWC check.
