Stage 2 Incursions

Building confident writers and transforming imagination into powerful storytelling

Whether crafting magical poems, building compelling characters and plots, or designing vivid imaginary worlds, our Stage 2 incursions inspire students to delve into their imaginations. Programs are developed to build confidence in their creative thinking and immersion in the process and planning of creating stories.

Through fun, engaging experiences, including drama games, vibrant discussion and inspiring guided writing activities, sessions provide students with inspiration for idea generation. We focus on techniques to articulate their ideas and transfer them from imagination to the page. Students will learn practical strategies that they can immediately apply in the classroom, and our follow-up activities enable teachers to extend learning beyond the incursion and embed skills across future writing tasks.

Potion Poetry

“Whisker of dragon, legs of a lizard.
A spider’s bite, the tooth of a wizard…”

In this exciting and immersive incursion kids make poetry magic with our potion-themed workshop. We focus on key poetry and storytelling techniques, such as alliteration, onomatopoeia and similes, whilst having a ton of fun along the way!

Storytelling Foundations

Our budding learners acquire the fundamentals of storytelling and creative writing including techniques for character development, creating epic settings, and what makes an action-packed plot! Kids will build their confidence in expressing their ideas whilst getting involved in role playing and character immersion, taking away an abundance of tools and inspiration to go forth and keep writing. A great workshop to get your students inspired before NAPLAN!

Escape to your Imagination

The focus of this workshop is on learning how to create interesting story settings. Kids are transported into the lands of their imagination and then guided, step-by-step, through the process of creating vivid and exciting imaginary worlds so that they can invent their own and then write about it.
